Not Another Mental Health Blog (Except It Totally Is)
Hey, I’m Jess — and I’m awkward.
Not the cute rom-com kind. The stare too long at the ground while spiraling in my head kind.
But here’s the thing: I’ve learned that my awkwardness, neurodivergence, and chaotic attempts at healing are exactly what makes this blog work.
The Purple Owl was born out of burnout, late-night overthinking, and a deep need to talk about things we don’t always say out loud — like mental health struggles, starting over (again), rebuilding trust, and navigating growth that’s anything but tidy.
If you’ve ever felt:
- like you’re too much
- or not together enough
- or like you’re the only one who hasn’t figured out how to “self-care” without a breakdown…
You’re in the right place.
I’m not here as a therapist or expert. I’m here as someone who’s been through it, messed it up, tried again, and realized that healing doesn’t have to be boring or buttoned-up.
What you’ll find here:
- Real talk on mental health and emotional overwhelm
- Self-help strategies that don’t feel like homework
- Messy growth, healing, and probably a few owls
- And the occasional awkward overshare (you’re welcome)
What you won’t find:
- Toxic positivity
- Shame for struggling
- One-size-fits-all advice
This blog is a soft place to land.
It’s for the weirdos, the overthinkers, the neurospicy, the burnt-out helpers, and anyone tired of hiding the parts that make them human.
Let’s start the conversation.
Let’s rebuild the trust — in yourself, in others, and in the idea that healing can be weird and wonderful
